Axios’ exclusive analysis of data from Disney and Lucasfilm shows that the blockbuster “Star Wars” has made $1.5 billion in the U.S. alone in the last two weeks.
Axios also broke down how many songs the films’ biggest stars have been selling on iTunes.
In the wake of the “Star War” movie’s theatrical debut, a new wave of new songs have been added to the catalog.
Among the newest additions are new songs from Taylor Swift and Adele.
Axio also tracked the overall sales of the films movies through Thursday, and how they fared in terms of gross domestic.
It found that “The Force Awakens” grossed $1 billion in its opening week.
In terms of the number of albums sold, “Star Trek Beyond” has surpassed the previous record for the most albums sold at one time.
But it is also behind “American Beauty” by Beyoncé and “Black Mirror” by David Fincher.
In addition to the big-selling albums, the Axios analysis shows that “Star” also has surpassed “Star wars” as the top grossing film of all time in its first two weeks on the market.
It’s hard to know exactly what the films are doing to their catalog, but Axios says that the two-week total of sales suggests that “Spaceship” has been “spreading like wildfire.”
